A packed school hall enjoyed an evening
of pantomime, carol singing and mulled wine at the end of the winter term.
The evening opened with an
inspirational address from Anthony Lutyens speaking about his debt of
gratitude to the medical staff on and off Lismore since being diagnosed
with terminal cancer and his offering the great sum of over £4000 he
raised for the Oban Hospice after walking part of the West Highland Way.
The cheque was handed to representatives of Oban
Hospice appeal by Flora MacLean and Eilidh Willis
The proceeds of the evening also went to the
Hospice Light up a Life
The pre 5s with their teacher Tamsin
MacVean then performed two action songs: I Saw Three Ships and Twinkle
Twinkle Little Star. Their handmade ships were impressive.
The Pantomime which
followed was a cleverly scripted Jack and the Beanstalk cleverly
written and directed by Freda MacGregor and Mary MacDougall and
brilliantly performed.
All the pupils played a part in
the performance and thanks to the skilful makeup of Katy Wright some of
them were barely recognisable. Freda and Mary had managed to put in
several very funny local flavoured jokes which added to the humour which
the children were very adept at milking.
After the Pantomime the carol
singing was accompanied by Ann Livingstone on the piano and the school
recorder group. The mulled wine and mince pies was a great finale after
Primary 7 boys John Carmichael and Christopher Willis had switched on
the Light up a Life tree.
