Trafalgar Celebrations
21-22 October 2005
Lismore joined enthusiastically in the Trafalgar celebrations with a barbeque, fireworks and treasure hunt on the day and a three course sit down meal the following evening. Beth Campbell and Tony McLarney performed yet another culinary feat by preparing and serving up food to a packed hall. The proceeds went to the Youth Club and to rsabi – Supporting Scotland’s Rural Community – and Seafarers UK. As starters they served venison meatloaf and mushroom pate with a large selection of breads, after which there was a choice of Scotch broth or basil and tomato soup. At this point a rum cocktail was used to toast all the fishermen and farmers who fed the fleet. A huge selection of meat, fish, seafood, and vegetarian main courses was accompanied by vegetables, salads, rice, pasta, and potatoes. Cheese and oatcakes ended a delicious meal. Before the toast Beth told us about the great
part played by Scots in the victory, both as serving men and as providers of good food.
