Indian Meal

20 August 2005

It was billed as a Hot Summer’s Night Indian Meal and it certainly lived up to its name. As with all the other community meals Beth Campbell and Tony McLarney have organised to raise funds for the Youth club, this was a great success: well attended, well organised and well lit. The Community Hall is not an exotic setting but Beth and Tony had made it look very intimate with discreetly placed candles and attractively dressed tables and the paintings around the walls from the art exhibition enhanced their work. As usual the highlight was the food, all home cooked and served in prime condition. Pakoras, samosas, pappadoms, salads and dips for starters;  beef, chicken, lamb, fish and vegetable korma, bhuna, jalfrezi and Madras curries served with rice and bread; and  the hit of the evening was the chili and chocolate ice cream served with a fresh strawberry puree. The subtlety of the chili complimented the ice cream and it was  pronounced utterly delicious. Thanks Beth and Tony for this chance to meet in such an enjoyable way. Makes a change from committee meetings.
