Winning Steak
June 2005
A charolais cross heifer bought in Oban in 2003 from John Livingstone, Balure, has been selected in a blind test as this year’s winner of the annual McIntosh Donald-Tesco Scotch Steak competition. The Banffshire farmer, Jimmy Edward of Meilkle Ardone, Keith, who took first prize said he always knew she was good beast and the steak drew warm praise from Nick Nairn, chairman of the judging panel. Jimmy Edwards wrote a warm letter congratulating John on his part in the raising of the heifer. Congratulations John.
Clipping course
6 July 2005
Eleven students from Lismore attended a two day clipping course run by the Wool Marketing Board and instructed by Davy Anderson and Donnie MacDougall from Lochilpead. It was held at Balure and hosted by Dorothy and John Livingstone. As well as those new to Lismore and crofting, many younger less experienced Liosachs attended and all found it very helpful.
