First Scottish Country Dance
15 May 2004
To celebrate ten years of country dancing in Lismore, teacher Ann Livingstone organised the island’s first full scale Scottish Country Dance inviting dancers from Fort William, Oban, Appin and North Connel to spend the evening stepping it out to the music of the John Renton Band. With 40 dancers and a programme of 16 dances this was an energetic evening opening with a Highland Welcome, closing with Mairi’s Wedding and stopping only for a delicious supper. Then, as all visitors had to return to the mainland, the community bus was busy transporting them back to the ferry at Point. Margaret Black presented Anne with a basket of flowers in recognition of the hard work and planning that had gone into the first but hopefully not the last Scottish Country Dance in Lismore.
