School Governance Review

The Scottish Government is conducting a review of school governance. It is looking for views from “children and young people, from parents, teachers, practitioners and the wider community” on “how education is run: who should take decisions in relation to the education of children and young people and how the funding of education can be made fairer”. The review closes on 6th January 2017.

The review contains 17 questions that can be seen by looking at the paper version. Answering these questions requires quite a detailed knowledge of the current arrangements and so some links have been provided below. However, you can make your own comments structured in whatever way you please by emailing governancereview@gov.scot. If you have any interest in education in Scotland, it is worth explaining how you think schools should be run.

John Swinney (the current Education Minister at Holyrood) is quoted (see below) as saying Decisions should be taken at school level and that this will be the presumption.
