CELM volunteers' lunch at the Café on 15th December 2012

The many islanders who volunteer at the Heritage Centre were treated to a very tasty Christmas lunch as a thank you for all their hard work throughout the year. Without this small army of willing workers the job of preserving and fostering the island's culture and heritage for the generations to come, would go undone. Chair of the Comann Eachdraidh, Duncan Livingstone, began proceedings by thanking everyone present as well as those unable to attend and, after the meal, the Manager of the centre, Nic Jones, presented Margaret MacDonald with a thank you gift for her long service both as a founder of the Comann Eachdraidh in 1994 and a volunteer every season since. Margaret was modest in her acknowledgement of how much work she and the original members did to create the institution we see today which has put Lismore on the cultural map. Everyone there was aware of how important those early days were with the endless fund raising as well as the endless work associated with gathering together the collection the Museum now houses.
