Murray Willis from Baligrundle, Isle of Lismore, played at the Royal Albert Hall with his band, Room 5, earlier in November. The members of the group were all studying at Lews Castle College UHI in Benbecula last year. This is where the band was formed.
The event in London was the Music for Youth Concert and the group had played
at preliminary rounds in Inverness and Perth before getting through to play
in London. They were the only Scottish group at the concert.
The response to the group’s performance in the Albert Hall was amazing,
especially when the pipes were played at the end, receiving the biggest
round of applause of the night.
Murray is currently studying at Sabhal Mòr Ostaig UHI in Skye.
When he completes this course he hopes to go on to perform and teach music around
the world, be involved in many exciting and varying projects like this one and make lots of music. We all know you will
Murray – best of luck for the future.
