Queen's diamond jubilee on 5th June 2012

Lismore’s Jubilee Celebrations following the film festival and started in fine style with a right Royal Treasure Hunt in the fields beside the Museum organised by Beth Campbell and Lorraine King. Several teams competed to find treasures from the museum that had been cleverly spirited away. The street party in the museum car park which followed was popular with adults and children alike, and, the fine weather Lismore has had for some time, greatly assisted the celebrations. The Parent Council of Lismore Primary School provided the food, the entertainment (lots of great games) and the prizes.

At six in the evening the celebrations moved to the hall where a packed house joined Anne Livingstone for a Royal Country Dance. What some of the dancers lacked in expertise they made up for in enthusiasm, and, with Anne’s clear instruction and amazing crowd control, several dances were accomplished and everyone had a great time. It was back to the café for a very popular Royal Barbecue which was to have been outside but the balmy weather was threatening to break and Beth successfully served up a feast inside to bring Jubilee day to a fitting close.
