School olympic torch procession on 18th May 2012

Primary 2, 3,and 4 at Lismore Primary School completed a long and detailed project on all aspects of the Olympics just in time to stage their own Olympic torch relay to coincide with the real torch arriving in the United Kingdom. Before they set out they were keen to talk about their special sports – horse riding, fencing, boxing and gymnastics – about which they had all become experts. They also each planted an Olympic capsule which they will open in 4 years when they will still be at the school. At the completion of the run from the hall to the school, classroom assistant and project organiser, Hazel MacCormick, presented each pupil with a medal, a certificate, and their own Olympic torch otherwise known as an ice-cream.
