Oban and District Provincial Mod
The whole of Lismore
Primary School travelled to Oban on Sat 5th June to take part in the Oban
and District Provincial Mod which took place at Oban High School.
They were
entered into three competitions and performed well in all of them.
Nine year
old Sophie King sang a lovely Gaelic song in the 9-12 girls solo class.
Sophie finished joint 2nd and said she really enjoyed singing - despite
only coming to learn Gaelic in the past two years.
Next up was the Action
Song where the children performed well. Their comical rendition and actions
granted them 2nd place in this competition.
Lastly was the Folk Group
competition. The group named "Na Liosaich" comprises the schools two primary
5 pupils and the three primary 7's. They performed two lovely songs joined
together by a guitar, a fiddle, a penny whistle and beautiful harmonious
singing. They were awarded very high marks on the day and both the
adjudicators remarked on what a musical treat their performance had been.
The children had a great day in Oban performing, the sun was shining and
they returned to Lismore a happy wee bunch - looking forward to next years
