The James Graham Trio

Thursday 16 July 2009 at Lismore Hall

An excellent evening of musical entertainment was provided by the James Graham Trio, consisting of James Graham, Gaelic singer, James Ross on piano and Neil Johnstone on cello. James Graham, from Lochinver in Sutherland, graduated in 2003 at the Royal Scottish Academy of Music and Drama with an Honours degree in Scottish Music. In 2004 he was the winner of BBC Scotland Young Traditional Musician of the Year, the first male and the first Gaelic singer to do so.

All members of the trio are highly acclaimed musicians in their own right. James Ross is a pianist and composer and Neil Johnstone is a classically trained cellist. Their playing provided a stunning and original accompaniment to James Grahamís beautiful singing.  They also played impressive instrumental interludes which introduced to the audience a new and lively approach to traditional music.
