Island of Lismore - Jane Rose Art work

Jane Rose is an artist whose work is based to a great degree on  things she finds on the shore not just of Colonsay, where she now lives, but in places she visits and spends time in. Jane has found island landscapes and seascapes very inspirational and these featured prominently in her art until she began researching beach litter for her MA degree.  Her interest lies in man made found objects in particular and by recycling them as her art she is making the point that we are littering the planet to death. She spends many a day collecting anything of interest on the beach and then taking them to her studio (an old hen house with wonderful views of the Paps of Jura), where she selects and arranges objects in frames made from wood she also collects. Jane brought her work to Lismore recently and spent a week in the hall meeting the locals and visitors who called to see it. She is very concerned that the art carries a message about mankindís serial wastefulness and hopes that by highlighting this she will make a difference.
