Thus: -

and in accordance with the decision taken at the public meeting held on 07 March 2008 the establishment of a Trust should now proceed.

Appointment of the Steering Group

A majority of those who voted agreed that a formal Steering Group should be appointed to take forward the establishment of the Development Trust. The Working Group therefore now invites nominations of community members, who appear on the Register of Electors for Lismore, and who are willing to serve on the Steering Group. Upon the formation of the recommended Company Limited by Guarantee with Charitable Status members of the Steering Group will become the interim members of the Board of the new Trust until its first Annual General Meeting.

The Working Group has recommended that the Steering Group and the subsequent Board should comprise nine members. In the event that more than 9 nominations are made a ballot will be arranged to elect the nine nominees to serve.

Nomination forms can be obtained from Lismore Stores.

Each nomination requires a proposer and seconder and the nominee must indicate their willingness to be appointed, by signing the form.

If you believe that a Community Development Trust can help secure the future welfare and economic success of this island community, and if you are willing and able to contribute your time and effort to getting a trust established please submit a nomination form.

Completed nomination forms should be placed in the box provided at Lismore Stores no later than 12.00 noon on 21 May 2008.

Once the Steering Group is appointed the current Working Group will be dissolved.
