Induction - Rev. Dr. Roderick D M Campbell

Saturday, August 30th 2008 was a special day for Lismore and Appin Parish Churches when, after a vacancy of almost exactly two years, their new minister Rev. Dr. Roderick D.M. Campbell, was inducted at a service in Lismore Parish Church.

Around twenty ministers and Elders from the Presbytery of Argyll, almost thirty friends and colleagues of Dr. Campbell’s from St. Andrews and St. George’s Church in Edinburgh and another twenty to thirty Church friends from Appin and district were ferried over on the Lismore ferry, kindly aided by a fast launch from Glensanda, courtesy of Aggregate Industries, and later transported back to Port Appin, joined by a good contingent from Lismore.

A beautiful Induction Service was conducted in Lismore Parish Church by the Presbytery moderator Rev. Dr. Roddie MacLeod with sermon preached by Rev. Jeff MacCormick and the prescribed questions to Minister and Congregation put by Rev. George Cringles.  After this Service, a speech of welcome to everyone, and especially to our new minister, Dr Campbell, was given by Barbara McDougall and gifts of welcome were presented, with appropriate words, to Mrs Sue Campbell by Mary MacDougall, to Mr Bill Harvey, Inter Moderator, by Donnie MacCormick and to Rev. Dr. Campbell by Duncan MacGregor.

Afterwards, everyone crossed back to Port Appin and Appin Hall for a lovely buffet meal provided by parishioners, and later to a Service of Introduction in Appin Church, followed by a social evening in the Hall.  All agreed it had been a very special day and all were delighted to welcome Dr Roderick Campbell to our linked Parish.
