Farewell to Catherine and Jennifer

1 February 2008

The Comann Eachdraidh Lios Mr has said goodbye to its two Museum Development Officers who were responsible for getting the first exhibition at Ionad Naomh Moluag up and running in time for the opening in April 2007 and for developing the new exhibition for the 2008 season.

Catherine Gillies and Jennifer Baker were both presented with  quaichs by Donald Black and John Livingstone respectively and thanked for their huge contribution to the museum's success. It had not been easy when the first Museum Development Officer had had to resign after six months in the job and, as an interim measure, the job was shared by Catherine Gillies, Jackie Skeldon, and Lynne Vesco who had all just finished working with the MacDougal collection.

Then in November 2006 the Comann Eachdraidh appointed Catherine and Jennifer as a job share for a year and, while the post will be greatly missed both will still be "in the neighbourhood" as Catherine is returning to  a post with the MacDougal Collection and Jennifer in a voluntary role as Events' Manager at the museum.

At the farewell drinks organised by Jennifer and Catherine all those who had worked with them in whatever capacity were invited to preview the new exhibition which will reopen with the Museum in April.
