Mairi Smith takes off

Last Tuesday,  8 July, Mum and I decided to take advantage of Oban's new air link to the islands.   Having checked the Colonsay website I got in touch with a very helpful gentleman called Kevin Burnie who took us on a bus tour of the island, pointing out the interesting historical sights.

We left on the 7am ferry and had a magnificent flight down over Oban and Kerrera and out over Seil and Easdale where we had an excellent view of the Bridge over the Atlantic and on out to Colonsay itself. We spent a pleasant day on the island with breakfast in the Colonsay Hotel, Dinner in The Pantry and a cool drink back at the Hotel before we returned to the Airport. Everyone we met was really friendly and helpful. The icing on the cake was the detour Pilot Julie Angell took over Lismore and Mum's wee house, it was spectacular. We caught the 8pm ferry home and would highly recommend this as a special day out. Maybe next month mum and I will hop over to Coll and Tiree .
