Guild Sale and Hall Dance

21 July 2006

You need stamina to keep up with the pace of social events in the last week of July on Lismore, especially if you are involved in the organisation which this year was faultless all round.

Friday started with the Guild Sale of work at 8pm. The Appin ferry had spent the day bringing holiday makers and returning family members across, and the hall was packed when Barbara MacDougall opened the sale. The baking and the fresh produce was, as ever, very popular  and in addition to the books, bric a brac etc there were teas, an auction conducted by The Rev John Murdoch, and a slogan competition, all of which raised over 1000.

By 9.30pm the hall had been cleared and the band was tuning up for the dance run by the hall committee which was a huge success. Iain Joseph MacDonald provided the music.
