Children’s Author Visits

 15 May 2006

Malachy Doyle, the acclaimed Irish writer for children and young adults, visited Lismore Primary School delighting the children by reading from one of his books, answering their questions, and talking about writing, reading and finding suitable illustrators. He said he once counted how many versions of a book he had written and there were 187. This was all an unexpected pleasure as Malachy was staying on the island for a week’s holiday with his wife Liz and sister Marie and they all took time off for the unscheduled event. Marie sang the children a song about a mermaid in Irish gaelic and the children reciprocated with their MOD songs.
