This was the third in the series of "supper concerts" organised by Beth Campbell of Lismore Cafe and it certainly did not disappoint. The threesome - Maeve Mackinnon (vocals), Lauren MacColl (fiddle) and Ewan McPherson (guitar), who have been touring on the continent and Canada as well as round Scotland, are now performing under the name of Cula. They have all had success as solo performers as well working with other musicians and their experience and virtuosity was very much in evidence in Lismore. Their repertoire was predominantly scottish gaelic so it was unfortunate there were not more of the island gaelic speakers there to enjoy the evening. However the audience very much enjoyed the variety of songs from different gaelic speaking areas, delivered with Maeve's usual verve and versatility. The trio are now working on an album together so hopefully it will live up to the Glasgow Herald's prediction that "they are surely destined for greatness". Thanks to Beth and Campbell Cameron for giving us the chance to hear this brilliant trio in action.
