7. HALL IMPROVEMENTS / WATER SUPPLY

Water- Scottish Water have now made their Bye Law Survey to both the School and Hall. There are a few minor alterations required before the hall could be connected to the mains supply including replacement of the water tank and fitting stop cocks. It is expected that their plumber will be involved in these alterations in October at the same time as alterations are made at the school. The Scottish Water Project Manager indicated that the School supply would be passing  under the  proposed car park where a spur would  be made to the Hall. We have not had a price for this supply confirmed yet. It was decided that with the new water purity requirements and the Hall  being a public building should accept the mains supply.

Internal Plumbing- Anna and Gilly are meeting with Rikki  Nesbit so he may quote for the simplified Kitchen  works to give us a guideline for grant application. Simon Lewis is still willing to do the Job  if we supply the materials.

8.CARPARK

Clarification of the planning permission has now been obtained for the off road car parking, So long as there is room for a car to be parked and have the 2m tarmac thresholod between it and the road that will suffice.

Roger has asked Ronnie McColl to quote for the ground work .and has also asked Archie to do the same.

Roger asked Julian to supply the drawing and measurements of the car park and the requirements from the planning dept for the meeting he is to have with Ronnie on Monday or Tuesday.

There will obviously be a need to coordinate the ground works with Scottish Water.

9.GRANTS

Liz has obtained the following information about grants-

Assuming our upgrading kitchen facilities + car parking are going to cost in the region of £5,000 - £10,000 – these are the grants we appear to be eligible for, which have funds available at the moment:

Lottery - Awards for All

Can apply for up to £10,000

Needs independent referee to sign/support grant application (local authority officer, councillor, senior bank official)

Need to include with application:

Need to show that we need the money, ie - savings/free reserves of less than 12 months income.

Can use our own/other volunteers’ time/work spent on project as our match funding.

Decision within 8 weeks of application.

Can apply to Lottery again after 12 months.

Scottish Community Foundation ‘Main Grant’.

Grants between £1,000 and £5,000.

Application needs similar level of documentary evidence as Awards for All, including 2 written quotations for work + details of referee.

Decision within 3 months.

Scottish Executive’s Rural Development Small Award Fund

Up to £5,000 total project costs only.

Spoken at some length with the fund administrator, who seems quite positive about funding the kitchen up grade (but not the car parking).

Decision within 2 months.

Argyll and Bute Council ‘Supporting  Local Communities’

Up to 50% of project costs (no limit specified, but usually don’t have much in fund).

Three written estimates to be submitted with application.

Otherwise, similar level of documentation needed as above.

the committee would like Liz to explore the Lottery for all Grant with respect to our Savings and commitments since we have to have a reserve for maintenance of the Hall Fabric.
