Another wonderful week spent on Lismore. Great to be part of that community feeling and the Christmas Lunch was amazing. School meals have certainly improved since my day. Also had a great afternoon at Senior Citizens party. Happy Christmas to all. xx

Thanks for a great weekend on Lismore. Atmosphere was great but there are some strange
people lurking in the hills and on rooftops - a bit scary for the crows.

It was a great weekend and a brilliant display of scarecrows - what will turn up next year?

We have been wanting to come to Lismore for many years and finally came in July. My husbands grandfather was from Lismore and he was very interested in all the archives about the Carmichaels. Everyone was so friendly, from the lady who gave us a lift to the heritage centre to the Heritage centre. Hope we will visit again in the not too distant future.

Glad we lived up to your expectations and we look forward to seeing you both again.

Hello Folks,

It was great to meet and see you on the two days we recently spent wild camping on the island.

Hannah in particular enjoyed meeting people who we had been telling her about and has pestered us to return. We are so glad we did come across. Starting with meeting Alan the ferryman (whose brother, Duncan owned the campsite at Tralee where we stayed for the remainder of our holiday). Subsequently we went on to meet Pauline at the heritage center, and at first briefly Beth at the cafe, before she came out to give us all a fantastic warm welcome!

Then on to the shop we met up with David, before heading on towards Kilcheran and meeting Freda and Duncan Drysdale.

We had a fantastic night's camp down near the lighthouse before walking back up to Point. We did though meet Alison and Ian Weir.

Where does the time go over ten years? I know we never met everyone, but for those we did meet, thank you for your warmth and kindness. We left with a heavy heart Lismore in 2004 under very difficult circumstances, so it was great to return.

Thanks to Freda for a welcome lift to Point on our way back, this was very welcome to our tired legs! Best of luck to Beth with her plans for the future and who knows we may book into your new B&B!! We will be back though, we have had an enjoyable two weeks and it certainly brought back a lot of good memories.

Best wishes to you all.

Memories of Lismore are memories my late father never forgot. He was sent from his home here in Coatbridge to Lismore as a young boy to work. I managed to take him back to visit before he passed and he was able to show where he had lived. the owner was kind enough to let us see in his home where dad had been living as a young boy. I now have a special place in my heart for Lismore and will always treasure the memory of dad at the cottage.

Lovely to hear that he managed to re-visit the island. Hopefully you will visit again sometime

Loved visiting the website! It helped me learn more about my ancestor Duncan Carmichael who lived there in the 1700's. Thank you so much!

Its now a year since my mother Sylvia died.
My thanks go to Dougie and Mary on Balure farm for allowing me to spread her ashes on the farm she loved and remembered.
I apologise for not being in contact but illness prevented me.
I have Emailed Ian Mckinnon a couple of times and he has kept me informed about events on the island. My thoughts lie with Fay and family it was a tragic loss.

Hi, the lovely Island of Lismore. My wife Gina is the Deputy Headteacher at Moordown St John's in Bournemouth and she is going to be linking up with your primary school, so I"m doing some research for her. The website sells the island well. By the way my name is Amedeo and I am a Town Councillor in Bournemouth. Coincidentally, I spent a lot of time in Oban and have been over to Barra

Lismore proved to be a great place to celebrate Hogmanay 2012. I went on some beautiful walks to the lighthouse and the castles; had a lovely NYE meal at the cafe; watched the fireworks over the water at Oban and Appin; made it to the Ceilidh - won a raffle prize - and didnt give up till 1.30am; watched otters swim by our blue house and there was rainbow after rainbow. Thank you to the man at the post office for lending us DVDs (Whisky Galore was kind of perfect) and to everyone who said hello or waved from their car. Best wishes for 2013.

Glad you enjoyed your time here. Look forward to seeing you again soon. See Miranda's album here.
