2  Minutes 9th May

These were agreed

3 Lismore Museum Grant Application

Jenny reported that the Museum’s CERS application was still pending, with the outcome due in July.

4 Publications/Branding

Unfortunately Marina was not able to attend, and so the latest information on the draft Lismore leaflet was not available for the meeting. Mary reported that she was still waiting to hear from Dee, before she could price the lt. The use of non-standard size paper was queried, as this would lead wastage, and greater costs in cutting. This might become an issue when financing future print runs.

There was some discussion on the format, layout, and size of future leaflets.  It was agreed that the Appin and Lismore leaflets and the Appin Museum leaflets could all follow a common format.

(Note: May 9th Minutes noted that the logo should appear on leaflets as a means of branding, without constraining different leaflet styles).

It was suggested that incorporating sets of leaflets into a simple wallet folder might work well. Alex had an example of this, which was liked by all present. Alex also had an example of an A5 leaflet, which might be suitable for the  Appin leaflet.

The idea was put forward that Dee may be approached to produce a wallet design which could be adapted for use in both Lismore and Appin.

Action:

      To summarise :)

Lismore Walks: leaflet designed by Dee, details to be circulated by Marina to the        group before the next meeting. Mary to price it.

Lismore Museum walks: Jenny will forward to the group, details of the proposed    museum walk routes, so that information on leaflets is not duplicated. She will also            approach Donald to find out if he is willing to price artwork for the 8 Lismore museum    walks. Alex will also price the Lismore drawings if Donald does not wish to.

Appin walks: Alex to work on an example of an Appin leaflet, liaise with Les and Issy      regarding locations for seven Appin sketches, and also cost the production of the      artwork.

All leaflets: The possibility of producing a simple wallet for all the leaflets to go in to       be considered further.

5 SNH Grant Aid

Alex has priced the timber signs for the Appin walks at £200 each for seven, to include supply and fixing. He will forward his design details to Jenny, as it was agreed that a common theme should be used for both Appin & Lismore.

It was agreed that key information on accessibility should be shown on them. Jenny has information on standard symbols that can be used. It was also noted that reference numbers could be used on both the posts and the leaflet maps.

8- Business Seminar

Draft information was circulated to all present (attached with these minutes). September 12th was fixed for the date. It was agreed that a presence at the Appin show on the 18th August would be worthwhile.

Action:

9 Jubilee Bridge

The latest situation was outlined by Alex. To summarise, Argyll & Bute Council will adopt the bridge if initial repairs are made. Three local contractors were approached, to price this work, but only one price was returned.

Action:

10 Signage at the Ferries

There are two existing Tourist Board Signs that are out of date, and have also been wind damaged. One is not readily accessible to the rear, due to the ground conditions. Mandie Curries e-mail concerning the need to highlight keeping dogs under control, on information signs, was circulated to the group.

Action:

11 Car Park

The Appin car parking problem was discussed, and the STAG meeting due in September noted. SNH have £500 available to contribute to an interim study. Elaine Robertson has informed the group that £500 may possibly be forthcoming from Argyll & Bute Council. It was thought that a feasibility study commissioned in the meantime would probably not be fruitful, as there are no viable alternative to be investigated.

Action: No further action at present

Next Meeting Wednesday 25th July 2:15pm at Appin Co-op
